Playdate
2014 | Project-space presentation | MAFAD (Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design)
In 2014, artist Judith Frissen and I collaborated on a playful and intuitive presentation titled Playdate. The title referred to the childhood ritual of bringing toys to a friend’s house to play, an idea that guided both the process and the spirit of our project. We each brought a variety of collected objects from our studios into a shared project space, treating the room as a playground for experimentation. Together, we explored the visual and fun relationships between our items through spontaneous arrangements, combinations, and improvisation. The final presentation was not pre-planned but emerged organically from this process of creative play, resulting in an installation that reflected both our individual practices and the dialogue between them.
